Mobile Phone: Nokia N95 8GB versus the Apple iPhone

I've been thinking about my next mobile phone for a while now.
I'm fairly sure that I'll get a Nokia N95 8Gb, but I did get a chance to play with an iPhone the other day and is was nice.

This article over at www.allaboutsymbian.com is a good comparison between these phones.

AAS Feature: The Black Beauties Christmas Showdown - Nokia N95 8GB versus the Apple iPhone

Seems that the N95 8Gb wins easily.

Now all I need to do is wait till after Christmas for Vodafone's exclusive N95 8Gb deal to end.

Google Maps

Google have released a new version of their excellent Google Maps software for Mobile Phones.
Version 2.0 is still in beta, but it does now include a new My Location feature.
If you have a device that does not have GPS, My Location tries to work out your position from the mobile phone masts near you. My Location then makes a best guess as to where you are.
A report from Arne over at http://www.theunwired.net suggests that it's quite good, and can guess your position to within 200 meters or so, which is not bad!

Google Maps

Update: 30/11/2007
I've installed this on my O2 XDA IIi and the My Location feature does not work :-(
When I click on Help, About. At the bottom of the page is says
myl: N/A
Which means that my phone is not reporting and cell information.
More details here.

Xda Stellar Review - 4WinMobile.com

Xda Stellar Review - 4WinMobile.com
This is a great review of O2's latest XDA model the Stellar.
The phone is based upon HTC's TyTN II.

Interesting that Daron Brewood has been using this phone for 3 months and has only had to reset the phone 4 times.
My current XDA IIi needs resetting once a week!

UltraMobileGeek by ThoughtFix: Asus Eee Ease of Speed Test

UltraMobileGeek by ThoughtFix: Asus Eee Ease of Speed Test

I've been following ThoughtFix's blog on the Nokia N800 and N810 and find his view of these great machines really interesting.
As he has had to send back his pre-production N810 he has turned his attention to the Eee PC.
I'm looking forward to what he can make it do!

Green Battery - Rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride & Lithium Batteries.

Green Battery - Rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride & Lithium Batteries.

This is an interesting site, they sell Rechargeable batteries, but have a 'Green' view on choosing batteries.

Now without batteries there would be no Gadgets, and this blog would not exist! So batteries are somewhat "close to the heart" of this blog.
Kids toys always need batteries and we are constantly replacing them when they run out.

I'll be investigating the NiMH Nickel Metal Hydride batteries further and also 'Intelligent ' battery chargers.

The only down site about this site is that they charge 5% extra for PayPal and Credit Cards.....better find my cheque book!

Here is another review of the lovely ASUS EE PC.
The folks at the Register give it 90%.

I've just been reading an article on the Register about the ASUS EEEPC and they mention this site EEEUser.com.
I just had a quick look and it does seem to have loads of useful stuff on this excellent device.
